The bad news is that if you decided to stay in Friday night, you missed one of the most enjoyable events anywhere near the city of Boston, and it’ll be another year before it comes around again. The good news is… well, there is no good news. This was a sweet party.
Cantabrigians once again proved it is possible to celebrate outdoors without leveling a city block at the 12th annual Cambridge Dance Party, held in front of city hall in Central Square Friday night. Roughly 400 people converged on a football-field sized chunk of Mass Ave for the event, transforming the street into a balls-out discotheque.
The music selection was somewhere between a middle school dance and a sloppy wedding reception, but it didn’t seem to slow anybody down (including the crowd of electro-hipsters who usually flail around the clubs in Central). In all seriousness, though, I was nearly trampled trying to film the Cha Cha Slide.
