Many Mansions
Human Beings first learned of rhythm in the womb. The musical project Many Mansions was not born in Jamaica Plain, but it grows there. It’s been absorbing the rhythm from people attempting to re-discover vibrational harmony. The sound of people is the key. Abundance is the door. Rhythm is the roots of the tree of life. It is the pulse of the water. Many Mansions is tuned in to the atomic voice of color and light.
The band’s catalog has grown long in a short amount of time: one, swarm of suns, dream music, holymountainlifeadventureclub, the dream is changing, and now, return to source! Each album is the same undefinable shape. With Many Mansions, we’ve traveled the forest of noise, traversed the valley of mists and climbed to the other side of the mountain, before us, only sky. We can reveal the patterns, force the circles into the open. Many Mansions uses electricity, but it depends on nothing. The spirit is what they play for. The spell is cast.
It is the music of anyone who loves freedom.
It is the music of anyone who loves love.
When was the last time you gave yourself over to the ocean of joy? It is not “world” music, because there are too many worlds to choose from! The multiverse is literally dying to meet you. Are we dancing? We’ve all-ways been dancing! All is activity. Everything you need is in your fingertips. Within our hearts there are many mansions.

The Needy Visions

It’s late July, and you’re kicking it by a beach bonfire with all your best friends. You are a very lucky person, because your best friends are some of the greatest rock and roll musicians of all time. They are putting your mind at ease with guitar licks and vocal harmonies of the sweetest variety. Your best friends are lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Daniel Shea, bassist Samuel Potrykus (Christians & Lions, The Life Adventure, “Peace, Loving”), lead guitarist Elliot Chaffee (Hats & Glasses) and drummer Steve Dave.
Listening to the Needy Visions is like taking a huge bite of an oatmeal ginger-chunk cookie. It gets you right in the sweet tooth with chord progressions and melodies you might remember from the 60s, but hits you with a sharp tang of flavor just often enough to make you crave more.
The songs are instant classics, so well-crafted it’s hard to believe they weren’t hitmakers for big record labels years ago. They are played with such genuine good-natured energy that it’s impossible to be in the room without popping a smile. The melodies are so catchy that you’ll be singing along before the end of each song.
The Visions themselves put it best: “WE AIM TO HAVE A GOOD TIME ALL THE TIME.” They do. And so will you. Hang out with them at Blastfest!
