Brazilian soccer star and all-around weird-looking guy Ronaldo (wiki) was arrested in Rio de Janeiro last weekend after an altercation with three transvestite hookers who were trying to get $30,000 from him:

“…when the prostitutes turned out to be transvestites he asked them to leave. Ronaldo offered them $500 each to keep quiet regarding the incident and to not reveal any details to the media.

However, one of the prostitutes did not comply and requested $30 thousand. The AC Milan striker [. . .] accused Andrea Albertino of extortion, after an altercation Andrea claims began when Ronaldo found out he was dealing with transvestites instead of women, according to the police. The prostitute [. . .] filed a claim against the player, claiming that Ronaldo is on drugs and attempted to physically abuse them.”

The incident comes one month before the release of Nike’s Mercurial R9, a dunk styled after Ronaldo’s soccer cleats. Nike may end its association with the soccer star as a result of the arrest, though Ronaldo claims this will not be the case.
